How Does a Motorised Pergola Awning Work?

In a motorised pergola awning, a three-layer waterproof PVC blackout roof cover opens and retracts by motor on an aluminium structure. Open, the cover shades the space; retracted, the roof opening is clear.

The cover runs on a track between the load-bearing profiles and can be stopped in any position. We plan performance in rain together with slope, joints and drainage. The motor and controls are chosen for the size of the system and how often it is used.

Shade and Light Control

What Is a Three-Layer PVC Blackout Roof Cover?

It is the cover that forms the moving roof of a motorised pergola awning. Below we explain what each word in the name means, and what it does not.

PVC-based

The cover is a PVC-based material. The manufacturer and model of the cover used are stated in the material data sheet.

Three-layer

The cover is made of three layers. The layer build-up is shown in the data sheet of the chosen cover.

Blackout

The cover is opaque: it does not let light through. That is why it creates shade beneath it when open.

Waterproof cover

Waterproof describes the cover material. How the finished roof performs in rain is planned together with slope, edge joints and drainage.
